Continuous Improvement and Innovation

Back in 2010 we invested in a full suite of international management standards covering quality ISO 9001, environmental ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety OHSAS 18001. The systems and procedures arising from this investment have been instrumental and a catalyst for ensuring that we formally apply continuous improvement and learning. This has resulted in a formal performance review following completion of all projects where the delivery team reflect on learning opportunities by asking:

  • What went well and what did not turn out the way we envisaged?
  • If we were starting the project again, what would we have done differently?
  • Was the project delivered on time, within agreed target cost and to prescribed quality standards? If not, what were the shortfalls?
  • What measures and actions were taken to apply innovation and deliver greater value to the client?
  • How did our client view our performance? This would be formally measured using a bespoke feedback questionnaire.
  • How well did we manage the general public and those affected by construction activities? This would be measured by verbal and written public complaints as well as Considerate Constructor scoring metrics.

We are particularly proud of the collaborative approach our people are encouraged to apply. This helps promote a wide range of benefits to our clients including enhanced efficiency and service to our clients as well as competitiveness.
